Each of the five songs presented here are authentic to the Chinese culture with the New Year as the unifying theme. The movement elements of each song use beautiful props including fans, ribbons, and easily made costumes. Directions and advice are given about making or acquiring these props and costumes. 

 All the songs are presented in English and Mandarin. Melanie has included detailed lesson plans as well as instructions and advice for singing in Mandarin.
